OLC Opens Registration for the Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning 2018 Cohort

NEWBURYPORT, Mass., Nov. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Online Learning Consortium (OLC) today announced registration is now open for the 2018 Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online (IELOL) program. Now entering its 10th year, IELOL is a unique leadership development program designed for those in positioned-for-senior-leadership roles, with responsibilities related to online or digital learning initiatives.

"IELOL participants enter the program with different levels of experience, representing a range of higher education roles," said Kathleen S. Ives, D.M., CEO and executive director, Online Learning Consortium. "After completing the program, IELOL alumni are better positioned to drive institutional goals, navigate change and innovation, as well as advance their organization's online learning strategy."

More than 325 emerging leaders have successfully completed the IELOL program since it first launched in 2009. The program draws from a wide and diverse field of institutional types including for-profits, non-profits, community colleges, military educational services, religious affiliated institutions, privates, and publics from small institutions to large, consortia and systems. Up to 50 participants are accepted for each annual cohort.

Blended-Learning Format Includes On-Campus Experience at WSU

IELOL is a four-part program that runs from mid-July to mid-November annually, and requires a variety of individual, group, and team project work, including a team-based case study.

The blended learning format includes an Immersion Experience which will be held in August, on the campus of IELOL's 2018 academic partner, Washington State University. This faculty-led intensive experience will take full advantage of WSU's new state-of-the-art, digital classroom building called "The Spark," which can accommodate formal and informal learning spaces for small and large group learning.

A post-immersion project allows IELOL participants an opportunity to plan an institution-specific project that will showcase their leadership. The program culminates with the IELOL Masters Class, a pre-conference workshop at the OLC Accelerate 2018 conference held in November, in Orlando, Florida.
