Leave and accommodations is changing as rapidly as the workforce itself. Our State of Leave and Accommodations Report was created to give HR a complete, comprehensive view of 2024’s challenges, trends, and other insights — and what it means for the years ahead. In this report, we surveyed four groups of 600 people (2,400 respondents) to understand how the landscape of leave and accommodations is evolving. Two groups were comprised of employees who had recently requested a leave of absence or accommodation. The second two groups were HR and People Ops leaders at large and enterprise organizations. Carvana is the fastest growing online used car dealer in the United States and employs more than 13,000 people nationwide. Celeste Moreno is a Leave and Accommodations Specialist that has been with Carvana for almost three years. Prior to making the switch to AbsenceSoft in 2022, Moreno was coordinating leaves of absence with a third-party administrator (TPA). While she enjoyed working with the TPA, she found it difficult to make their process consistent for each request. Because of the way their TPA processed their leave request, Moreno didn’t have access to historical claims or the documentation that their employees submitted to the TPA.

Headquartered in Harris County, Texas, Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (ISD) employs more than 15,000 people across the county.
