Immune from Workplace Violence? Think Again! Unfortunately, workplace violence remains an ever present threat which cannot and should not be ignored. The risk not only affects employees, but it also impacts the financial well-being of a company. Our panelists will help to explain procedures and legal actions that can be taken to help avoid a potential catastrophe.
Guest Speakers:
In a morning session, the speakers conveyed important information that the HR audience could take back to their offices. The message was that no one was immune from workplace violence. The speakers were all custom fit for this presentation. Sunny Corona, teaches companies how to position their companies to control work place violence. Katherin Nukk-Freeman, an attorney, focused on establishing policies, practices and procedures to implement background screening. Karen Jacobsen presented the reasons and process of background screening and how to develop safe hiring standards. Karen also presented industry statistical information that the audience was shocked to see, such as; the cost of a bad hire; how many drug users there are in the workplace; the percentage of that had adverse information; the percentage of reference checks that differed from the application; and the number of sex offenders registered nationwide.
Overall, the presentation was well received and rated high on CIANJ’s roundtable meeting.
