Accreditation standards published by The Joint Commission (formerly the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) require that healthcare companies include students in their background check policies. To assist both the healthcare field and the medical education community maintain compliance with these standards, InfoMart offers Advantage Students.
Advantage Students works by connecting hospitals, schools and students through an easy-to-use, thorough and secure background screening process. Students visit InfoMart’s Advantage Students website and upon selecting their school, enter a customized page with step-by-step instructions for completing the background check and drug testing process specific to their clinical program.
Students complete an online background check application and schedule a drug test via the Advantage Students site. Consent to conduct the background check and share the resulting consumer report with both the school and hospital is collected electronically and payment can be accepted online from the student at the time or order, or invoiced directly to the school or hospital.
Schools and hospitals enter Advantage Students through the retrieval and tracking side of the portal, and view background check and drug tests results for their clinical placements. Program administrators can indicate whether a student is accepted for onsite placement, and store screening and drug test results to assist in compliance audits.
