We live in an age of scientific enlightenment. Science, through technology, has made remarkable advances in the 20th and early 21st centuries.
These advances include the internet and personal computing, advanced communication technologies, automobile, air and space travel, inexpensive global and mass transportation, nuclear power (and weaponry), and proof of distant galaxies and other solar systems in our own galaxy. Not to mention a 25% increase in calories consumed per person over the past 50 years in spite of a world population that has more than doubled to 7.5 billion (famine is almost always the result of political instability, not food supply).
