Reverse Mentoring is an intergenerational idea exchange program in which less experienced/junior employees become mentors to the senior executives of an organization and share invaluable knowledge with them.
The knowledge exchange allows the executives to look at the organization from a different perspective while closing the culture gap between generations, and also advocating more communication amongst colleagues.
Execution: Generally, a Reverse Mentoring program runs for six months. The mentors meet with the mentees at least once a month and work on topics such as technology, diversity, employee relations, and cultural management. The topics are decided upon before the program kick-off and they are custom-built for every organization taking into consideration its current business challenges and future vision.
Best suited for: All companies regardless of their size willing to close the generation gap amongst employees, develop a bridge between generations, infuse company culture to younger generations, help upper management become more youth literate, and support diversity within the organization.
