Individuals who are seeking a career in organization development are often self-motivated, strong communicators, visionaries who have an intense desire to help senior leader lead change, improve organizational effectiveness, and create a healthy work environment. People who pursue a career in organization development are often described as highly ethical, motivated, inspiring, and dedicated. Developing your career path in OD depends upon your ability to gain the skills, experience, and education needed to advance in the field. Most organizations and senior leaders need individuals who can help them manage change and solve critical business challenges and problems. The OD function usually reports to the VP of Human Resources, however, in some organizations they report directly to the Senior Leadership Team. OD can support senior leaders with changes in business strategy, vision and mission, culture change, organization strategy, organization redesign and employee satisfaction.
