Countless research studies have demonstrated the bottom-line value of employee engagement, culture and belonging at all levels and types of organizations, and yet most struggle to create impactful programs. Impact requires that when measuring an organization’s performance, it is essential to look at engagement across all types of employees, since engaged employees are more likely to contribute to bottom-line business benefits and refer the company to others. Employee engagement is not just about how employees work, but also how they feel while doing their tasks, such as how enthusiastic and involved they are in their work environment.
OGC approaches engagement measurement as a multi-faceted assessment of employee experience, with an in-depth assessment of 3 subtypes of engagement, based on decades of academic research. All three subtypes of engagement describe a level of connection with the organization. Cognitive engagement is the knowledge and belief-based connection, emotional engagement is the affect-level connection, and behavioral engagement is the intentions and actions that demonstrate engagement. All of these types have been connected to improved employee performance, reduced turnover, and positive organizational citizenship behaviors that are above and beyond someone's job role.
Using a proprietary mixed-methods, all-employee survey customized for each client, we analyze themes for leadership to consider and offer targeted suggestions for improved culture and engagement.
