La Jolla, CA and University Center, Michigan – January 31, 2017 – Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) is partnering with MadCap Software to assist professors in the Professional and Technical Writing program in giving their students a competitive edge when entering the workforce. Through the partnership, SVSU will offer students the ability to gain hands-on experience using MadCap Flare–the most advanced technical authoring and publishing solution–and learn the modern technical communications practices that are in high demand at businesses around the globe.
SVSU offers more than 100 academic programs to a diverse student body at both the undergraduate and graduate level, which provides students with a rigorous and engaged learning environment where they can gain expertise in solving real-world issues. This extends to the use of MadCap Flare by the Department of Rhetoric and Professional Writing, where students explore the rhetorical, cultural, and professional dimensions of writing and information design in a variety of genres, context, and publication media.
SVSU professors plan to integrate MadCap’s software into the department’s Professional and Technical Writing program, which offers courses that focus on design and communicatory theory, research methods, and client-based service learning. Students in the program will be able to take advantage of MadCap Flare as part of lab classrooms and at its research and development facility, the Center of Usability Studies and Universal Design.
Our students design complex documents that demand powerful software solutions, with the ability to distribute materials through print and digital media,” said Dr. William Williamson, professor of Professional and Technical Writing at SVSU. “As such, we’re excited to partner with MadCap Software in providing our students with tools that can accommodate their diverse demands. In the upcoming months, we look forward to exploring the many new ways to integrate Flare into our curriculum, from introductory courses to the capstone.”
“We are thrilled to support SVSU professors and students in using our MadCap Flare software to create and deliver materials in a variety of formats, from print and digital text to video and multimedia.” said Anthony Olivier, MadCap founder and CEO. “In partnering with SVSU through our MadCap Scholar Program, we are extending our ongoing commitment to providing educational institutions with the tools they need to teach students, equip them with current content development practices and ultimately make them more marketable as they enter the workforce.”
