“1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of [some form of] physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime” (NISVS, 2015). With such high rates of intimate partner violence it is safe to say that it is affecting at least a person in most rooms. Participants will learn how to identify abuse tactics, behaviors, resources and personalities in order to keep themselves, co-workers, friends and family safe. Learn how to help someone live a life free from abuse.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will learn the characteristics of an abusive person
2. Participants will gain a working knowledge of abusive behaviors, tactics and strategies
3. Participants will learn to identify the cycle of violence
4. Participants will learn how to support survivors of intimate partner violence
5. Participants will learn about local resources
Outcomes:
1. Learn to help someone live a life free from abuse
2. Develop a working knowledge of intimate partner violence
3. Understand the reasons victims stay in abusive relationships
