OSHA and ANSI recommend that all workers in areas with a high potential for unsafe levels of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas receive comprehensive training on H2S hazard identification and control methods. Our online Hydrogen Sulfide Certification courses, one for initial H2S Awareness Training and the other an Annual H2S Refresher Course, are designed to help employers and employees meet these important safety guidelines.
Workplaces with a reasonable potential for elevated levels of H2S gas include, but are not limited to:
Chemical plants
Mining operations
Oil and gas drilling sites
Oil and gas refineries
Rayon manufacturing facilities
Tanning factories
Wood pulp and paper processing plants
Training must be provided to all workers upon assignment to jobs or tasks that involve a significant risk of H2S exposure. Additionally, H2S safety refresher training is required annually to ensure ongoing compliance and worker safety.
