Are Your Benefits Failing Black Employees?

You’re working hard to keep your best people and build a fair, diverse workplace. But there is one big area where many plans miss the mark: family benefits.

Black families face unique challenges and barriers when it comes to family building. This means that at times standard, one-size fits all type benefit packages fall short.

Black History Month is an opportunity to examine where inequities still exist. It’s important to understand these financial, social, and cultural differences and build a benefit package that helps employees overcome these challenges. Black families are disproportionately represented in kinship care situations, stepping in to care for relatives’ children, yet many benefits fail to recognize or reimburse these family-building paths at all.

Take action: Evaluate your benefits and know the challenges facing black families in family-building and partner with a benefits provider that understands these challenges and has resources to overcome them.
