From parental leave to maternity care policies, much of the advancement of women in the workplace has come from a solid benefit strategy. Today companies are looking to support not just traditional paths to parenthood but also including benefits that support women in the multiple paths to parenthood they can take.

Not so long ago, women led the fight for the right to work after marriage or to be hired as a married woman. They advocated for maternity leave instead of forced resignation, and for health plans that recognized pregnancy as essential care, not an exception. These hard-won gains laid the foundation for today’s conversations about equity, leadership, and choice.
