Ambacia was founded in Zagreb in 2008, and our Employer of Record service lets foreign companies hire people in Croatia and Serbia without opening a local entity. We become the legal employer through our own companies in Zagreb and Belgrade, while you direct the day-to-day work.

Most clients reach us at one of two moments. They want their first salesperson or developer on the ground, or they have been paying local contractors for months and realise the arrangement no longer holds up legally. In both cases, finding the person is rarely the hard part. The hard part is getting the contract, payroll, tax and social contributions right under Croatian and Serbian law, from the first payslip onward.
