Ensuring Worker Safety: How Onsite Clinics Improved Food Service Worker Health Outcomes

Food processing plants face a unique set of challenges in worker health and safety. With fast-moving production lines full of potentially dangerous equipment, constant loud work environments and worker populations that draw heavily from immigrant communities, getting injured workers to appropriate care can be a struggle. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports more than 33,000 worker injuries in food processing plants in 2022 that required days away from work, and an additional nearly 23,000 requiring days of job transfer or restriction. An onsite clinic is an essential resource for food processing plants, offering immediate medical attention for injuries directly at their workplace. It eliminates the need for offsite referrals for minor injuries while ensuring timely and appropriate care for more serious cases, navigating workers to the right treatment at the right time and place. We analyzed 2023 performance data from Medcor onsite clinics across 31 food processing facilities and found that all sites had success with the addition of an onsite clinic. Download to learn more.
