Crystalline Silica is a mineral found in the Earth’s crust and is quite common. In fact, it’s the 2nd most common mineral in the world! Some silica-containing materials are sand, stone, concrete, and mortar. Silica is also often used to create things like glass, pottery, ceramics, bricks, and artificial stone. Respirable Crystalline Silica is tiny particles produced through handling silica-containing materials that are respirable or breathable and can cause things such as silicosis, lung cancer, and other serious health issues.
