The Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC) is accepting applications for its nationally recognized career skills programs in machining, welding and industrial maintenance, with only a few open seats remaining for upcoming January term. Students may apply at any time, with official class registration beginning in November.
MAMC saw record enrollment for fall term, with all three programs at capacity, including the new enhanced industrial maintenance program called SMART (Systems Maintenance, Automation and Robotics Technology), which launched in August.
MAMC offers its Machinist Technology/CNC program in Huntington in partnership with Mountwest Community and Technical College and in South Charleston in partnership with BridgeValley Community and Technical College. In addition, MAMC offers the Welding Technology program in Huntington and SMART in Huntington and Point Pleasant. Both are partnerships with Mountwest.
Students earn industry credentials, one-year certificates and two-year associate of applied science degrees through MAMC’s partnerships with the local community colleges.
Each of MAMC’s career skills program qualify for WV Invests, which means state residents may qualify for free tuition and fees.
“In response to industry demand all across our region, we have expanded our programs to educate and deliver the skilled talent companies need to thrive,” said MAMC Director Derek Scarbro. “It’s not unusual for all of our graduates to find work in their chosen field and many land jobs while still taking classes. Machinists, welders and industrial maintenance technicians can earn very good money right here in West Virginia.
“Those interested in enrolling in one of our programs for spring term should apply now, as open spots are filling up fast.”
