Office of the Inspector General and System Awards Management - For the healthcare industry, searches of OIG and SAM/GSA databases are conducted to determine whether candidates are on the excluded parties list and are prohibited from employment at Medicare- and Medicaid-reimbursed facilities.

FACIS—This research adds additional layers of excluded-party research beyond those of an OIG and GSA search. FACIS research will develop information that would not be found in either an OIG or GSA database search.

FACIS Level 1M—This search includes current and historical sanctions taken by the OIG, the SAM/GSA Excluded Parties List, and hundreds of federal agencies. This search also includes the Medicaid and Medicare excluded and debarred individuals in the forty-six states that have created state debarment lists.

FACIS Level 3- Combines the Level 1 search of the federal agencies described above, state excluded party lists, and a search of current and historical disciplinary actions taken by licensing and certification agencies in all fifty states. This is the most comprehensive research available.
