As we begin a new year and new journey, many of us have ever faced, we find ourselves caught between reminiscing about all that we have endured and wondering what the next year will bring. If you are inclined to pessimism, these past months have only served to solidify your darkest fears—a future filled with more infections and deaths. If you are an optimist, you see “the bright side” as therapeutics, vaccines, and stories of courage and recovery continue to emerge. Many of us are somewhere in the middle --cautiously optimistic but prepared for the worst. No longer surprised by anything in between.
