September is national suicide prevention month. As we take a moment to reflect on the quote above, we are reminded that the painful, life-altering effects of suicide are far-reaching and incalculable. It’s not just one person who dies when there is a suicide, a part of everyone who knew and loved that person dies as well. Suicide is a powerful reminder that our mental and emotional health matter, and that is critically important to reach out to someone you trust if you (or someone you care about) are experiencing low moods, depression, feelings of helplessness or hopelessness, or thoughts of self-harm, or suicide.
