Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM)

The Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) ( https://www.icrm.org ) is an international certifying organization of and for professional records and information managers. The ICRM was incorporated in 1975 to meet the requirement to have a standard by which persons involved in Records and Information Management (RIM) could be measured, accredited and recognized according to criteria of experience and capability established by their peers.
The primary mission of the ICRM is to certify Records and Information Management professionals as Certified Records Managers (CRM) and Certified Records Analysts (CRA) including specialty designations and to administer a certification maintenance program that ensures its members remain current in this dynamic field.
The ICRM serves as the certifying body for records and information management (RIM) professionals, the Nuclear Information and Records Management Association (NIRMA), (ICRM and the Nuclear Information and Records Management Association established a formal relationship in 1990 to develop and evaluate an advanced module to the Certified Records Manager certification), the CRM/Federal Specialist, (the CRM/Federal Specialist was developed for CRMs whose field of professional practice involves RIM programs of the U.S. Government, whether as a Federal government employee, uniformed military, vendor, consultant, or contractor), and the CRM/Certified Information Governance Officer (the CRM/CIGO post certification specialty designation is a reseller agreement executed with CIGO Association in promotion of the new Certified Information Governance Officer certification program).
