Press Release
A particular word has been following me around lately.
Potentiality.
It keeps surfacing... in conversations, in books, in the questions I find myself asking the audiences I share with and to and the individuals I coach.
And if I've learned anything about being the guide on your side... and I mean on your side, right here next to you... it's that the words that keep showing up aren't accidents.
They're invitations.
So I went to the root.
Potentiality comes to us from Aristotle.
Almost 2,400 years ago.
The Greek Dynamis .
The Latin Potentia .
Both meaning power.
True Capacity.
His idea was simple.
The acorn already contains the oak.
You don't add tree to the seed. The tree is already in there .
Waiting.
I love this analogy BTW, I hope you find some inspiration in it too.
This isn't a cute idea.
It's a thread that's been carried for almost 2,400 years ... and there's a reason the word and what it represents made it this far.
Most of the people I work with... and maybe this is you... have lost some version of their freedom along the way.
Inundated with work that never ends.
So much given to taking care of others that you can't remember what it feels like to take care of you .
Somewhere along the way, your world quietly became about results and metrics...
Instead of about unlocking who you are. .. and using that to create a world that doesn't exist yet.
You don't need more potential.
You already have potentiality .
It's already in you. It's just been covered over.
“Doing the work (DTW)" isn't about adding more to yourself. It's about removing what doesn't belong to you … so the unlimited power that's always been there can finally come through.
And this is why I ask you the potentiality questions, including the ones below, every Friday.
Because potentiality requires a witness .
Aristotle taught that potentiality doesn't actualize itself.
The acorn needs soil.
The bronze needs the sculptor.
The capacity in you needs someone willing to see it... and reflect it back.
That's what these questions are.
My way of being a witness for you... so the power already in you has somewhere to land.
So… let's go… Let’s “Do The Work (DTW)":

Here are your Week 21, 2026
Friday Self-Leadership Reflections:
1. High Point of the Week
Where did something fall away or shed this week... and reveal a part of you that was already there, waiting?
⸻
2. Wisdom from a Challenge
Where did something cover over your potentiality and most authentic self this week... and what did that resistance teach you about what doesn't actually belong to you?
⸻
3. Opportunity to Celebrate The Week Ahead
Next week... what's one thing that doesn't belong to you that you'll set down... so the power already in you has room to come forward?

These questions don't do their work in your head.
So pick one:
📝Journal them.
👀Find someone in your life to be your witness.
Just don't leave them where they started, here on the page, or as a partial thought.
Those are the places where potentiality goes to sleep.
