Your Friday Self-Leadership Reflection - Week 35, 2026 - In Case Of People Pleasing, Break Glass

From The Legacy of You: Human-Centric Mindset & Leadership Coaching & Facilitation

Press Release

We're closing out August.

Still in the heat of it. Still in the movement of summer energy.

And hopefully many of you are outside... connecting with other human beings.

Because…

At the end of the day... with all of this technology, all of this AI, all of this social media... what still matters most are the conversations that matter.

The conversations that free us.

The conversations that let us remove the parts of ourselves that were never ours to carry to begin with.

So this week... one question. That's it.

If someone had asked me this earlier in my life... I hope I would have answered it. More importantly, I hope I would have let the answer change what I did next.

Because that's how you build a life on your terms. Not a life on other people's terms… A collaborative life. Not a life of people-pleasing.

Here's the question. And please... reply to this email and tell me your answer.

What's the one conversation... that if you actually allowed yourself to have it... would change everything for you in the best possible way?
______________________________________________________________

So many of us in leadership positions get caught up in the servitude. In the caregiving. In upholding the systems and the quality and the care.

And sometimes... we forget how much control we actually have to have the important conversations.

A few things I want to leave you with:

Just because you want to get better doesn't mean you're bad now.

Just because it's the way it's always been doesn't mean it's the way it has to be.

Just because you're used to feeling a certain way doesn't mean that's the way you'll always have to feel.

I wouldn't say any of this if I hadn't lived it myself. And… I got to say… Back when I was a debilitated people pleaser in a leadership role, I wouldn’t have belived it at the time it was possible to feel free.

So I challenge you. I invite you.

Answer the question above.

Just don't leave it in your head. That's where potentiality goes to sleep.

P.S. And by the way... if you're leading a team, and you know it's time for them to have an important conversation... the kind of conversation that would evolve your whole organization to its next level...

That's what my team and I do at The Legacy of You.
