Your Friday Self-Leadership Reflection - Week 36, 2026 - The Pause Before The Answer

We're heading into Labor Day weekend.

A time to slow down.

And if we really lean into the intention of the holiday... it's meant to be a time to pause. To honor what we as humans are capable of through our work. To reflect on our service to others.

So what I want to do this week... is reflect on you reflecting on your service to others.

Every week, I send you these emails so you can look inward... and then move outward into your work as a leader to our planet with dignity, strength, and purpose.

This week, I've got one question for you.

And it's a question about the pause itself. The pause that happens right before you answer a self-reflective question at all... and why you'd answer self-reflective questions to begin with.

Here is your Week 36, 2026 

Friday Self-Leadership Reflection:

Why is it important...  in the middle of everything else your weekend is asking of you… t hat you actually take the time to answer  deep reflective questions like these?

Here are a few things to consider as you sit with the question above...

- What does this quiet, thoughtful practice give back to you?

- What does it change in how you show up for the people around you?

- And who does it help you become... over weeks, months, and years of doing it? ______________________________________________________________

I'll answer it too.

I answer questions like this, and I journal daily, so I can untangle the thoughts in my mind. Because those thoughts are byproducts of a full and rich day... filled with challenges and rewards. And when I can untangle those thoughts... I can communicate clearly. With myself. With you. And with the people in my care.

Now that I've shared mine... your answer doesn't need to sound like my answer.

This Labor Day, I bow down to you… To the work you bring to the world... and "work" here doesn't just mean career.

P.S. This part is worth reading.

I recently facilitated a group experience with a leadership team. We brought deep questions into the room. And we let the people in the room share their answers with each other.
