Press Release

DURHAM, N.C., July 28, 2026: On Thursday, August 6, 2026, Ann Marvin, President and CEO of IMA Worldwide and founder of Peacock Hill Consulting, will co-present a free Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) webinar, "AI in Change Management," alongside Dr. Jennifer Vernam. The session addresses the question change practitioners are actually asking about artificial intelligence: not whether to use it, but what to use it for and how to use it safely.

The timing is pointed. A 2025 MIT report, The GenAI Divide: State of AI in Business, found that 95 percent of enterprise generative AI pilots produced no measurable impact on the bottom line, even as roughly 40 percent of organizations had deployed the tools. S&P Global Market Intelligence reported the same year that 42 percent of companies had abandoned most of their AI initiatives before production, up from 17 percent a year earlier. The pattern is high adoption and low transformation: the same gap between installation and implementation that IMA's Accelerating Implementation Methodology (AIM) was built to close.

"Resistance to AI is a function of disruption, not defiance," said Marvin. "Practitioners are not asking whether to use AI. They are asking what to trust it with. This session is about using AI as a collaborator inside a disciplined method, with guardrails, not treating it as a shortcut around professional judgment."

The webinar shows how AI accelerates core change work inside the AIM framework, including stakeholder analysis, sponsor contracting, and readiness assessment using tools such as the Implementation History Assessment and the Key Role Map. It pairs that with practical guardrails: keep confidential content out of public models, never enter client identifiers, treat AI output as a draft rather than a deliverable, and recognize when not to use AI at all. Co-presenter Dr. Jennifer Vernam is an AIM consultant with more than 27 years of healthcare experience.

AIM treats adoption as a structured behavioral problem rather than a communications exercise. It builds five readiness conditions in people before go-live, Information, Willingness, Ability, Confidence, and Control, and weights reinforcement most heavily through its Express, Model, Reinforce sequence, at a ratio of roughly 1x to 2x to 3x. Organizations that sustain active leadership through a change see two to three times the adoption of those that do not.

Created by Don Harrison and refined through more than 40 years of implementation research, AIM is used by Fortune 500 enterprises across AI and digital transformation, ERP rollouts, post-merger integration, and regulated-industry change.

"AI in Change Management" is free to ACMP members and non-members and runs from 12:00 to 1:00 pm EDT on August 6, 2026. Registration is available at Association of Change Management Professionals.
