DeGarmo Launches Groundbreaking Initiative to Improve Hiring and Retention of Tissue Authorization Specialists
[Bloomington, IL] — [July 14, 2025] DeGarmo, a leader in talent assessment and workforce optimization, is proud to announce a pioneering initiative designed to transform the way Tissue Authorization Specialists (TASs) are identified, hired, and developed. Building on the organization’s proven success supporting Family Services Coordinators (FSCs), this new project aims to increase tissue donation rates by improving the hiring and development of high-performing TAS professionals. This initiative seeks to create a validated behavioral assessment tool that predicts long-term success in the TAS role—ultimately helping organizations enhance job satisfaction, reduce turnover, and help more families choose donation to create life-changing legacies.
Project Objectives
DeGarmo’s initiative is guided by three core goals:
- Establish a behavioral profile for TASs that is predictive of high performance and longer tenure.
- Enable the tissue industry to identify candidates well-suited to thrive in the TAS role.
- Enhance TAS engagement and increase tissue donation rates nationwide.
Strategic Approach
To ensure meaningful, data-driven outcomes, DeGarmo will:
- Partner with industry organizations to ensure diverse participation and broad applicability.
- Gather behavioral and demographic survey data from current TASs to assess key work styles, values, and performance indicators.
- Conduct a performance analysis to identify high-impact behavioral traits and develop a TAS-specific success profile.
- Design and validate a new assessment tool for use in hiring, coaching, and talent development.
- Evaluate post-implementation outcomes to measure performance gains and retention improvements across participating organizations.
Proven Success Sets the Stage
DeGarmo’s work with Family Services Coordinators has already demonstrated clear benefits: more effective hiring, improved retention, and increased organ donation rates. This initiative leverages those insights to bring similar success to the tissue donation field—empowering TASs to excel and ultimately helping more individuals receive life-enhancing transplants.
